Participating Artists and Businesses in the art walk

Sorry to disappoint you… I’m not actually a rabbit. My love for art began at the age of eight, when I was simply inspired to be better at it than my grade school bully…

That bit of pettiness aside, I discovered that creating art gave me a sense of tranquility.

I am experienced in a variety of mediums, but within my pursuit of a graphics design degree, I found my true passion lies in digital art.

Inspired by the macabre, the disturbing, and the cute, the majority of my stylized creations revolve around my own original characters, who have evolving personalities and ongoing storylines. It would be a treat to share their adventures with you.

Don Hanselman-DH Designs, Acrylic Medium,

One in sixth grade classroom at Juan Lynn Elementary.  During the afternoon break I would always draw things.  One day I looked out the window and draw this big tree and did all the shadings an it came out like a real photo.  So from then on I kept it up.  I took art at Patti Weilder Jr. High School in 7th grade. I learn how to do pencil and charco portraits and the color wheel on mixing colors.  I kept drawing . Most important thing is how to draw things and make them look the same.   Took art again in sophomore year at Victoria High. Then  practiced drawing and painting.  All thru my family live and work I did some painting for our kids and friends.  at age 75 now retire from Air Force with 22yrs and a Vietnam Vet. and retire from NASA JSC in Houston with 23 yrs.  Now spend most of my time painting more since covid started.  I’m an avid fisherman, in Fly fishing, Saltwater and fished Bass tournaments for 14 yrs. Our son Ray Hanselman Jr is on Bassmaster Elite Series. He also is a fishing guide and hunting guide in Del Rio. TX  See Ray Hanselman

Part of the attraction of creating art is share with others and in some mysterious way it makes a connection that is meaningful to the viewer.

I currently works with acrylic paints.  my paintings are often inspired by ordinary natural scene; they could be close to home as well as further away.

I try to open my mind and work intuitively without predetermination.

Avery Byrd

I am 10 years old and I love to create. Acrylic paints and clay are my favorite, but I also make art using yarn, pencils, markers, or glitter. Painting helps me express myself and makes me feel calm. Right now I’m really into painting pigeons and cats, and when people like my art it makes me feel so happy. When I am not making art I like collecting Squishmallows and hanging out with my 2 orange cats, Pumpkin and Muffins.

Sarrah Beaver

Sarrah Beaver is the owner of a small business called Terminally Hip. The name Terminally Hip comes from a phrase in Narcotics Anonymous, referring to the egotistical state of an addict’s mind, and a reminder to me that I’m way more hip as I am today than I was in active addiction. This mother of 4 is on a journey of discovering her power, love for herself and what it means to care for and really see the unseen people in the community. Sarrah loves to read, sing in the car and watch her children grow into themselves with minds and eyes wide open.

I started seriously focusing on art in 2021. I love music so what I focus on is drawing what I imagine when I hear certain songs. Most of these songs deal with mental health in some form or fashion, which is something I feel needs more light shed on it still. Art is a way I keep myself busy during the summer months when it’s too hot outside for gardening. I also recently started using thread on canvas outlining silhouettes of pictures for friends. I enjoy traditional, digital as well as thread and canvas. I hope to continue to grow and learn as I navigate the art world which is still very new to me.

Sewing, quilting and crocheting are how I keep my sanity! Some of my projects use a mix of new and old components: fabrics and yarn I’ve found at garage sales, worn out t-shirts, or leftover quilt fabrics. I love the idea of upcycling as a way to breathe life into something that might have otherwise been thrown away. I’m an easygoing nature lover and don’t take myself too seriously, and I think that shows up in my work.

Cora’s Artistry Dreams

Cora Nichole is a 21 year old,

Hispanic artist and Dewitt County native.

She describes her art style as

“Abstract Realism”, and her art motto is

“You are powerful. You are worthy. You are Priceless.” She aims to uplift her audience,

and hopes her work will remind them that no matter how negative life can be there is always

beauty, there is always positivity, and there is always light at the end of the day.

“After people have had a long, rough day,

I hope my art can be a sort of comfort or reminder to them that there’s still good in this world, and there’s still beauty thriving within our lives everyday.”

Cora started art classes at the age of 5 years old at Victoria Art League under her late instructor Ellie Porrier. Cora was 10 after the passing of Mrs. Porrier, and she became self taught up until the age of 18 where

she attended an art institute located in Giorgia, and graduated with her Professional Artist certificate.

She now sells professionally.

Her art works have been shown in Italy,

The Canary Islands, and in Barcelona, Spain.

She hopes to one day open her own personal gallery, and to also continue selling her paintings both locally and internationally.

Her main goal is to touch peoples hearts with her art, and hopes one day everyone will have one of her paintings hanging in their homes.

“God blessed me with this talent, and I want to glorify my savior Jesus, by being a blessing to others and hope my paintings will touch people’s lives in some way.”

Leah Zuniga

Hello! My name is Leah Z. I’m 11 years old and in 5th grade. Ever since I was little I’ve always loved to draw, paint, and color. I really like doing arts and crafts, or anything having to do with painting or glitter. I would love to be an art teacher when I grow up, or some sort of job helping animals because I also really love animals as well.
